Learn to balance atop a polka-dotted elephant or introduce yourself to a flying dragon because – as this week’s Featured Artist Freeminds admits – she is here to help you “escape from adult responsibilities” and return to the magic of childhood. Each design is like a page out of a children’s story that introduces you to fairytale adventures and outlandish heroes.

Freeminds, or Indre, is currently living in the historic capital city of Vilnius in Lithuania. She shares that her favorite pastimes include trying new foods, hiking, and “everything creative.” In fact, she recently began learning how to knit and jokes, “imagine all the art I could knit on my sweaters.” Her work – whether on a digital canvas or a knit sweater – is the perfect way to escape into a storybook adventure.

Indre reveals that when she first began drawing, her style was much more realistic. However, as she’s gotten older, her art has shifted towards a “cartoony, colorful, and cute art” like anime or comic strips. She teases, “I feel like I'm doing it backwards.” Still, she appreciates the elegance in simplicity and asserts that “simple and mundane things can be inspiring.”

Freeminds reminds other creators “don’t compare yourself to other artists” but that it is still important to learn from each other. Not only does she love the support of her community at DBH, but she appreciates that she can learn from fellow artists as well. In the future, she hopes to continue to use her art as a means of storytelling. Although she recognizes just how nerve-wracking it can be to share her imaginary world, she still loves “creating worlds, characters and bringing them to life.”
