Hat Design Contest: Famous Hats in History

Heads up! Don’t let your head go through life naked, cold, and alone when it can have its own unique DBH outfit! Enter Design By Hümans’ Hat Contest to join the “Awesome Hat Club” and win the chance design a distinctive look that will become the next famous hat in history!

Submit your design on either a snapback or a dad hat using the design guide provided and be selected for the DBH Hat Collection. The three grand prize winners can take home a cash prize of up to $350, while the 15 runner-up winners will receive the chance to be showcased in the Hat Collection. Artists will maintain the rights to all featured designs and will receive a royalty of $4.00 for every hat sold.

Hats do more than just keep your head warm or hide that awful bed hair; they are the perfect fashion statement to make you stand out in the crowd. Get a head start on your hat design with a little inspiration from the famous hat-wearing heroes of our time:

1) Honest Hat:

Put Honest Abe’s famous stovepipe hat on anyone else and they would still look like the 16th President of the United States to us. Although Lincoln was already impressive at 6-foot-4, it was the battered and well-loved stovepipe hat that really made his look so memorable. We’re pretty sure that Abe Lincoln’s hat had magical powers that helped him become a great president. We need more magical hats like that.

2) Raiders of the Lost Hat:

Good ol’ Indiana Jones will never leave his famous hat behind! No giant boulder, snake, or fire could come between a man and his hat — especially if that hat is the iconic fedora that Indy sports throughout every Indiana Jones film.

In fact, saving his hat from impossible situations is a running joke in every movie. Crush his hand in a stone door? Anything for his hat!

3) Cat in the Hat:

The Cat in the Hat might be the most famous hat wearer out there! The famous red and white striped hat is a symbol for games, fun, and trickery for children all around the world. Don’t worry about getting stuck inside on a rainy day because the Cat and his hat might show up to balance your goldfish on his umbrella!

4) Elementary, My Dear Hat:

Thanks to Sherlock Holmes, the deerstalker cap has become synonymous with detectives and solving mysteries. All you need is a deerstalker cap, a pipe, and your very own Watson and you’ll be solving crimes in no time.

5) Stealing Hats for the Poor:

Robin Hood’s feathered green hat has become a symbol for the legendary outlaw. The popular Robin Hood — who steals from the rich to give to the poor — is just the kind of guy you want at your party. So, gather the Merry Men and head to Nottingham because Robin Hood is throwing a house party and we heard there might be party favors.
