Featured Artist: MarkGlass
DBH: Where are you from? MG:I am from Grand Haven, Michigan, which is a small tourist beach town located right on Lake Michigan.
DBH: How would you best describe your art style?MG:I would best describe my art style as satirical, comical, and facetious with an aesthetic that is clean, minimalist, and an emphasis on typography that is primarily vector-based.
Q:Where do you find your inspiration when creating your art? MG:I have a lot of influences and get inspiration from a wide variety of things. I'm a lucky enough person that I am inspired on a daily basis, whether it's my sphynx cat, the people I interact with, the music and podcasts I listen to, a meme that was sent to me, or just some whimsical thought. I find a lot of inspiration from my close creative friends, some of which work in creative fields like myself, shout out to Jerika, Alex, Jacob, Matt, Dennis, Dave, Mattie, Smith, Jenn, and Blake!
DBH: When did you know you wanted to make a career in the art world?MG: I knew I wanted to make a career in the art world since high school. I took all the art classes I could possibly take in high school and by the time I was ready to graduate my plan was to attend a college for graphic design.
DBH: What does a day of creating artwork look like for you and how to you start your creative process?MG: I usually listen to some music, a podcast, or watch a compilation of dank memes and start researching, sketching, and eventually dive deep into the software.
DBH: What artist (either current or past) do you most admire and why? MG: I feel like I could make a never-ending list of artists I admire, butI'm too tired for that and I'm not trying to be bore people.
DBH: What's the best advice that's been given to you as an artist?MG:"Have fun!"
