Featured Artist Update: Jess1586
Come and see what is waiting on the edge of darkness with this week’s Featured Artist Jess1586. With the spooky season upon us, it’s time to summon the creatures of the night like rattling skeletons, witchy black cats, and the Grim Reaper himself. Just don’t be surprised if your call goes unheard because the cats are busy playing with black magic or the Grim Reaper is enjoying a bowl of ramen instead! Jess1586 opens the portal to a supernatural realm filled with delightfully scary designs that leave you lost between a scream and the feeling of “aww, cute.” Join us in the darkness and get ready to scream and “aww” all the way to Halloween!
Our returning artist, Jess, is back in time to herald in the Halloween season at DBH. The full-time Graphic Designer is from Melbourne, Australia and shares that she has always loved creating; however, it wasn’t until she began painting as a teenager that she knew that art was her calling. She says that her “style is constantly changing and growing” but that she always tries to “draw things I love to draw, always have fun while doing it.” In fact, her current project and her main focus is, of course, Halloween! She shares, “I’m getting into the spirit, and I love horror films. Cute, creepy and Halloween” and her spooky designs are the perfect way to get into the holiday season.
She admits that it can be difficult to be a professional Graphic Designer yet still find the motivation to create in her personal time. Still, she admits that drawing after a long day can also help her unwind and relax. Today, her goal is “to create a lot more artwork, but also never stop enjoying doing it.” She follows the mantra – and encourages other artists to do so as well – “ignore that self-doubt and just create and enjoy the process.”
