If the feelings behind the first day of spring could be manifested into a piece of art, then it would certainly look like one of DBH artist Porkyroebuck’s designs.
The bright colors, the effortless sense of fun, and the happiness that pops in each design makes it feel like you are stepping into the first sunny day after a long winter. If you want to enjoy the sun on your face, the flowers blooming all around you, and the excitement of the world starting anew, then Porky’s art is meant for you.
Porkyroebuck is full of mischief, humor, and an appreciation for the unconventional. The artist jokes, “I’m around 100 years old in pre-discovered Mars years” and that their art style is “actually photographs from another dimension of time and space.” The artist’s fun personality shines through each design that is filled with quirky characters and smiling faces. However, Porky shares that “in all seriousness” their interest in drawing was influenced by the delightful Wallace and Gromit film A Grand Day Out and that they love sharing their art with the world.
Porky confesses that it can be difficult to find the “motivation to create in a world where there is a lot of competition for views, likes and things.” Nonetheless, Porky appreciates that their art can brighten someone’s day or the idea of their art entering the world on a t-shirt and going “out on adventures, even if it’s just going to the shops.” Porky admits, “there's commercial art and there is art you make for yourself. It is difficult to get both.” Still, Porky encourages artists to continue to pursue all types of art so that they can share their passion with the world.
