Featured Artist Update: Tingsy

The DBH team is excited about the opportunity to reconnect with longtime artist, Tingsy, and discuss her ever-changing creative process over the years.

Tingsy – who hails from the beautiful Bahamas – jokes that her style is still one of “nerdy nostalgia” and it continues to be inspired by her experiences as a child of the 1980s. Her retro-themed designs with fun mottos like “Never Forget” will certainly never be forgotten; her lighthearted humor and bold imagery linger long after the page has been closed. Although Tingsy is most notably drawn to vintage throwback styles from ‘80s pop-culture, she also loves to read science fiction, fantasy, and watch the occasional Korean drama.

Tingsy admits that her greatest difficulty is “trying to work on too many things at once.” However, as her creative process evolves, she is learning to overcome this obstacle and can now proudly complete projects before moving onto something else. She shares that “creativity to me is all about being able to translate your thoughts into something tangible that resonates with other people.” She hopes that someday her work resonates with people worldwide and that she can boast a brand that is unmistakably “Tingsy”.

Her most recent accomplishment – which is also one of the most difficult to achieve – is finding the confidence to share her work with others. Tingsy confesses that she is continually encouraged by other DBH artists and finds herself inspired to create by the DBH community. She also believes that it is important for artists to explore other “creative outlets” and that a safe place like DBH is perfect for artists to gather and share ideas with each other.
