Featured Artist: Beatrixarts

Beatrixarts’ designs are like a window into a fairy tale. We are introduced to a new and unexpected side of a wild creature or a favorite character from an old story — for instance, Little Red Riding Hood is exposed as the Big Bad Wolf, a venomous snake sprouts flowers, and a single crow dons a Plague doctor’s hat.

Her beautifully-detailed grayscale images are a brief snapshot of an elaborate story; you cannot help but wonder what came before, or what might still be coming. 

Beatrixart shares that “home for me is where I feel loved” and that she was only able to become an artist with the support and encouragement of the people around her. Her greatest muse is nature and she is able to find “inspiration from everything around me, especially when I go for long walks in the woods or in rural roads.” In contrast, she jokes that she “can’t live without” modern technology — like her computer — because she loves listening to music when she works.  

Her current project, entitled “Wild Spirit”, allows her to try “experimenting with new techniques of representation.” The detailed collection is an ornate depiction of animals concealed within overgrown flowers.

She also finds inspiration for her surreal-like designs from Salvador Dali, whom she would love to have met.

 She confesses that after she finishes a piece, she must first show it to a friend because “I am my own worst critic” and it is helpful to have an outsider’s opinion.

Nonetheless, she knows that her “vision for the future is to succeed in making art.” She understands that she must dedicate herself to creating and that the “first step is to give all my best” to art.
